“The original and the best french restaurant in Melbourne. Open late every night of the week and packed for a reason...go back with me to my childhood and get a chocolate mousse for old time's sake. You won't regret it.”

“Building on recipes passed down from his nonna, owner Gina Forlano has created a menu that pays homage to all the family classics. Don't expect to find any pizza here. Instead pasta is made fresh daily and cooked to a "nonna-soft texture" rather than al dente. The reginette ricce al ragu di anat, or duck ragu, is a customer favourite. Hot tip - my favourite is the gnocchi napoli. You won't find it on the menu anymore, but if you ask the wait staff they are more than happy to serve it up! Make sure you call ahead to reserve a table.”

Vietnamese Restaurant
$$
“This tightly-packed eatery is full of Vietnamese tuck shop flair and the fast-paced hawker-style vibe inside creates an electric atmosphere. With the quintessential rice bowl lamp shades, an alleyway-like corridor creating the real street-food feel and the excitement of the fiery woks being banged around in the kitchen, customers can experience a bit of Vietnam just off Chapel Street. Customer favorites include the traditional Peking duck pancakes, satay chicken and young coconut rice-paper roles, and BBQ pork char sui buns - but I can never go past the vermicelli salad with crab net roles. Don't skip the refreshing slushy, made of frozen young coconut juice, blended with lychees and mint (with or without rum).”

“Nice outdoor area and good for small groups or after work. Not my first destination for food, and no pints (schooners only) but one of the nicer settings and worth a look particularly if beer isn't your thing.”
