“Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village is home to hundreds of traditional houses, called hanok, that date back to the Joseon Dynasty. “Just a bit further into the mountains from Bukchon Hanok Village, Samcheong Park has perfect running trails. Follow the Seoul Seonggwak-gil, a trail along an ancient fort, and you’ll reach the Malbawi Observatory, which has great views of Seoul. Samcheong Park is open throughout the year, but Malbawi Observatory closes at 6pm in the summer and at 5pm in the winter. ”

Library
“The Jeongdok Library is one of the biggest public libraries, located in the back area of Samcheong dong. Half of visitors come here to study, the other half to rest. There are fountains and trees around, so you can see beautiful scenery that varies by season. There is no cafe here, but sitting on a bench outside is nice enough to take beautiful pictures. The neighborhood of Samcheong dong is just a few minutes away on foot. From here, you can visit small craft shops and unique cafes. ”

Art Gallery
“Right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, where the Joseon dynasty kings lived, there’s a handful of small galleries. Hakgojae is one I always visit. I love the traditional Korean Hanok exterior and the fact that it always shows artists who are renowned in their field, whether that’s calligraphy, sculpture, or multimedia. Unlike most galleries and museums in Seoul, Hakgojae forbids photography, even without the flash. ”
