Best things to do in Senja

Museum
“Skaland Graphite "verk" at Senja was one of the major industrial riots in Troms in the first part of the 20th century and the only active mining in the county today. Skaland was also Northern Europe's only graphite extraction for a period. This large business obviously needed a lot of power, and in 1919 the power plant in Bergsbotn finished and produced 450 kWh, which also benefited the settlements. Although the graphite "verk"went bankrupt and broke down for 10 years, the power plant continued to produce electricity until 1947. A violent rainfall led to dust breaking and the power station was flushed away by the 40 million cubic meters of water flowing downwards.”
