The "Casita in Ojo" is staying open during this time of the Coronavirus. Extra cleaning precautions are being taken, as per the CDC guidelines, washing with the recommended disinfectants. The casita is a 1-bedroom cottage with a private patio and only a 12 minute walk to Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Spa. It is easy to find and ideally situated to see the sites such as: Rio Grande del Norte Monument, Santa Fe, Taos, and Ghost Ranch, all of which are one hour away.
This casita is perfect for vacations, sabbaticals, or time away to get your book done, to plein air paint or photograph the area (Carson National Forest is a five minute drive away). It has a queen size bed and a love seat that converts to a small single bed. There are four local establishments to eat just a short walk away and a post office and a convenience store are a bit further. The casita is ideally situated to explore the magnificent, enchanted area. The host has degrees in history, traveled extensively and speaks English and conversational German. He lives in his own home on the property.
We are a 12 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) away from the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Spa.

Bedankt!

We zullen zeker terugkomen. Dank je!

    Danielle2019-06-19T00:00:00Z

Take refuge at Casa Ojo! Explore Northern New Mexico from this intimate and uniquely designed two bedroom / one bath house four miles south of the famous Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. There are 200 year old adobes in view in a traditional New Mexico village setting. Ojo is a close neighbor and a short walk to Martin Prechtel's ranch and Bolad's Kitchen School. Boladians should book well in advance for workshop dates. Long term stays of 7 days or more receive a 20% discount.
This two bedroom and one bath adobe house has a mud and straw plaster finish on the walls of the great room which includes a well equipped professional and modern country kitchen, living and dining area, and a wood burning stove. Each bedroom has a queen bed with organic mattress, upholstered headboard and armoire. A hallway connects the two bedrooms with a spectacular bathroom with bold black and white striped tile walls, heated floor, and a stacked washer and dryer.
The house is conveniently located just 4 miles south of the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. The village of Ojo Caliente is in the Ojo River Valley at an altitude of approx. 6200 feet, and is a sparsely populated unincorporated rural farming community. In the old days most residents did not have indoor plumbing (most had outhouses) and used a hot spring pool reserved for the community at the mineral springs. On the way to the mineral springs there is a gas station and general store, a Mexican restaurant, post office, rural health clinic and cemetery. Two churches and the volunteer fire department are on Los Banos road on the way to the mineral springs. There are hiking biking, and walking trails at the mineral springs property. At Casa Ojo there is a major irrigation ditch in the front of the house with lateral ditches on the north and south side of the property for pasture irrigation. In the spring you will here creek-like sounds of running water from the ditch. There are traditional adobe houses in view to the north and to the south. The old picturesque 200 year adobe viewed from the living room belongs to my wonderful neighbors Tim and Tamara. Tamara is the village doctor for the neighboring village of El Rito. The adobe is vacant but sometimes rented to Bolad Kitchen students. Carson National Forest land is on the east side of the highway and BLM land above the western cliffs. The pasture view behind the house looks west toward acres of alfalfa and red rock cliffs. The setting is farm-like and pastural. It is very quiet and dark at night with no artificial light pollution and spectacular night time star viewing.

    Brendan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z

    Monica2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's huis was prachtig! We komen terug!

Private, cozy, and wonderfully quiet, our Kiva is an inspiring place for meditation and contemplative retreat. The natural Adobe walls and floor, high ceiling, and big windows with plenty of light contribute to the grounding, yet open feel of the space. Close proximity to 2 undeveloped hot-springs, the Rio Grande River National Monument, and lots of great hiking. Just 5 miles from New Mexico's premier Brewery and Live Music venue. 15 Miles to Downtown Taos; 22 Miles to Taos Ski Valley
The Kiva is a single room structure, nestled into its own private hillside. A small round room with a big sunny view. Local clay for the Adobe floors and walls, raw timber from the Taos mountains for the high, airy ceiling. A stay in this hand-made home is truly a unique experience. The Kiva is a short hike to scenic natural hot springs on the edge of the Rio Grande river. The springs are free and open to the public, as such, you may encounter other folks there. Conduct your self with respect for any others and regard for your safety. Great for individuals or couples seeking a grounding space to get away from it all. The Kiva has an electric heater for cold weather. The fireplace is not for guest use, and fires in the fireplace (or outdoors) are not permitted. We are in drought conditions and do take wildfire seriously. This is a RUSTIC and MODEST space with no kitchen, and only minimalist bathroom amenities, please read onward for a full description. We have no running tap water at the Kiva, however several gallons of clean drinking/wash up water are provided in the room. This space is not set up for food prep or cooking (no running water!) However there are some basics like silverware, plates, bowls, and mugs that you can use for your convenience with prepared foods and takeout items. An electric water kettle for instant soup or a cup of tea is provided. The toilet is a clean and regularly maintained composting toilet, located about 100 feet from the dwelling, in a separate private structure. There are no shower or bath available on site. The undeveloped hot springs and also the Rio Grande river are about a mile hike away, and are great if you are craving a water experience. We provide bed linens, but please bring your own towel if you need one for the hot springs. We have hosted many satisfied guests with these admittedly modest amenities... If you need running water, flush toilets, and a shower in order to be happy, please look to stay elsewhere.
A private and quiet neighborhood. Neighbors occasional walk or run, and you can too, but quiet for the most part. Close proximity to 2 different Natural Hot Springs (one walking distance). Close access to Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument.
  • Schitterende ruimte!

Bedankt Ray!

    Brett2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
Woonstijlen in unieke stijl.

We komen terug!

Experience the beauty and simplicity of off-grid living in our guest home, a geodesic dome that sits at the base of Tres Orejas mountain looking out over the vast, sage covered high mesa. Wake up to views of the sun rising over Sangre de Cristo mountains, the town of Taos, and the Rio Grande Gorge to the East. In the evening the sun sets over our mountain and the Buddhist temple behind our house. Amazing views of the Milky Way at night.
The space is a one room geodesic dome guest home. It is a peaceful, minimal space complete with a queen bed, a drinking water dispenser, propane heater, and two windows with amazing views. The dome has 12V solar electricity, so you will have lights and usb charging ports (for phones, etc), but you will not be able to plug in any other electronics. Let us know if you really need to charge a laptop or something, we have regular electricity in the main house. We do have solid wi-fi. The dome is situated near our larger dome house on a few acres in a quiet, off-the-beaten-path neighborhood of off-gridders. Our homes here run on rain catchement or well water, 100% solar electricity, satellite internet, and passive-solar, propane, or wood for heat. You won't see a powerline or slab of concrete for as far as the eye can see. We are a short walk from the Tres Orejas Chöten, a beautiful Buddhist stupa and temple. Walk the trails on our property - pinon, juniper, yarrow, and a sea of sage. Ravens, rabbits, coyotes, elk, and big horn sheep in the area. Some destinations: ~5 mi. to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge ~5 mi. to Earthship Biotecture campus ~10 mi. to Taos Mesa Brewing Venue/Brewery ~15 mi. to town of Taos ~15 mi. to Black Rock and Manby natural hot springs ~25 mi. to the Taos Ski Valley ~25 mi. to Ojo Caliente hot springs spa

Craftsman style with beautiful woodwork details, this small studio is a perfect getaway at the base of Cerrito Blanco mountain in Abiquiu - the heart of Tewa country. Though the studio is small, there is a bright & equipped kitchen and a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights! In colder months, we provide a space heater that keeps the inside space very warm and cozy. We are 1.5 miles from Bode’s General Store, very close to the Georgia O’Keeffe museum and Plaza Blanca.
This rustic artisan studio has a sleeping area with comfortable futon with a memory foam mattress topper that sleeps 2, a bright, well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom, as well as a covered outdoor patio. Gorgeous woodwork details adorn the entire place, and you'll surely enjoy having dinner on the covered porch, as well as coffee or tea in the morning! If you are looking for an inspiring, bright and beautiful space with stunning views of Abiquiu and the Rio Chama, look no further. This studio is perfect for a single person or couple. It is a cozy and tranquil place to call home while you explore the surrounding areas of Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca, Georgia O’Keeffe’s home/studio and museum, the Rio Chama and Abiquiu Lake. We supply fresh ground coffee, half & half, green and black tea and a French press coffee maker. We supply a fan and this side of the building stays somewhat cooler, especially the sleeping area. The kitchen runs hotter as it has a skylight. Why rustic? We say rustic because: 1. We have a sensitive septic system. The toilet cannot take toilet paper, so must be deposited in the covered wastebasket provided. 2. The shower is European style (free-standing), located inside the bathroom. A squeegee may be used to get excess water into the drain. So, a little rustic, yes, but always clean!
The studio is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. We are also a short 3 minute drive to Abiquiu Pueblo & Georgia O'Keeffe's home/studio, 6 miles from stunning Abiquiu Lake, 12 miles from Ghost Ranch, and 30 miles from Ojo Caliente where you can take a relaxing soak in the healing mineral springs. Nearby hikes take you off the beaten path, up to petroglyphs and 1,000 year old archeological sites. Abiquiu is a wonderful place in itself, and this sweet, truly unique studio makes a great home base for some memorable adventures. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked.

Even if there are as few as 5 or 6 in your group it is a BARGAIN! CHECK IT OUT! You'll find free wi-fi and a full kitchen in the dining pavilion. The NEW kitchen provides more counter space and a better set-up is going to make this place even more of a great place to hang out! Visitors now PARK in the Bosque and approach the cabin via a one minute trail to the Ojo Suspension Bridge! Your private experience just got even better! Cooking is not allowed in the cabin but the pavilion is only a minute or two walk away. The new and beautiful pavilion is enclosed and kept warm for your visit. The space has carpet and laminate flooring, gas range, gas heater and is fully functional with a complete kitchen and hot showers. Optic fiber is here! We now have complimentary high speed internet available at the pavilion where you can relax in comfort in any weather! 'The Ojo', our name for the land, is a sanctuary for people and wildlife, and has a wild river flowing through it! We love animals, but please, NO PETS! Our trails, from easy to challenging, give you plenty to explore right here, with easy access into the fantastic neighboring wild BLM badlands! Hike our private Shadow Mountain Trail and have the entire Black Mesa top to yourself! Although you may be staying for only a night, to really appreciate this place we call 'The Ojo', consider spending more time here! The Ojo Cabin is cozy, think 'tiny house', and located in the heart of ' The Ojo' and within classic Bosque of Northern New Mexico; perfect for short or longer stays. The comfy BeautyRest queen bed has been moved downstairs for greater ease. The loft is now a place to lounge in the sun in the winter, hang out and enjoy the view or use it to stretch or do your morning yoga routine! For cold weather the cabin has propane heat. In 2020 power was brought to the cabin which creates a much easier experience for guests. The cabin has a bathroom/shower with hot/cold water and a 'Curve' RV type portable flush toilet. If you have any questions about how the cabin functions, special needs, etc. PLEASE ask before booking. We provide towels, bedding, extra sleeping pad/cot if needed, a light for night time forays, everything needed to make your stay easy! A two minute walk gets you to the PAVILION. Bring your own food and store it in one of our fridges. Better yet, eat out, Dave knows all the choices in the area! The cabin is located 45 minutes north of Santa Fe, 25 minutes from Abiquiu, one hour from Taos, and only a 10 minute drive to the Ojo Caliente Spa. Did you arrive here without sunscreen, lotion, shampoo/conditioner? We have you covered, and each morning of your stay, complimentary coffee/tea is available for you to prepare. The cabin sits on 116 acres of wild river, mesas, and nearby spectacular desert lands. Many bird species call this area home winter and summer! We are in the Bosque and summer nights are cool and winter nights are cold, but we almost always have pleasant sunny days. The Ojo Caliente river flows through the middle of our property, and directly in front of the cabin. We are wildlife friendly and in residence are beavers, raccoons, a variety of snakes (yes, in the summer occasional rattlers too), many lizards, squirrels, rabbits etc., with elk visiting nightly, yet NO negative interactions with animals has ever been noted. Trails give easy access to all areas of the property including the challenging hike (1000 vertical feet in just over a mile) up Shadow Mountain (winter ice may close trail). Walking the Cholla Labyrinth in the early morning is an amazing experience! We are close to many areas of interest in N. New Mexico, including America's latest National Monument. Skiing, climbing, hiking, biking, are all only minutes away, and Dave knows it all! We want to make the cabin your base for exploration! You will love our pedestrian suspension bridge, and our brand new Ojo Rainbow bridge guaranteed to shift your experience whether you have visited us before or not! Ask the host for more information! GPS map information by itself is incorrect and WILL NOT LOCATE our gate! You will be asked to download the free app 'what3words' once you have booked. With the three locator words that will be sent to you, locating the gate day or night is easy! We are ten miles south of the Spa on US 285. Sorry, pets are not allowed!
We are in rural Rio Arriba county but not far from Espanola. And of course, only a few minutes to the Spa. Drive times are: Ten minutes to the Spa. One hour to Taos. 45 minutes to Santa Fe. 20 minutes to Abiquiu. 45 minutes to Los Alamos.

Here is your chance to experience Tiny Living. We welcome you at this beautiful home-base ideal for skiing, hiking, fishing, painting and enjoying Taos' beauty. This space was a labor of love from a very close friend and we are so exited to share this little bit of paradise with you. Visiting our B&B will also allow you to travel to France - off sorts, as Jah - our permanent French cook, offers as an option to try real homemade Croissants, Jams and Beverages for a relaxed at home breakfast!
Taos has a magical quality. Its rugged beauty, majestic mountains, wild Rio Grande river and unique blend of cultures. There's no rat race here; a fair share of non-mainstreamers have made this laid-back, low-key mecca their home and so did we when we decided to make it our part time home. We bought this beautiful Tiny home from a very talented local artist who built and designed this home himself, using new and recycled eco-friendly materials. The natural materials make this tiny house cozy and warm. With 10 ft ceilings and many windows the space is surprisingly spacious. The Kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans to prepare meals and towels are provided too.

For locals, Ojo is a small, rural, ranching and agricultural village in northern New Mexico. We are five miles and 5 minutes south of the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa. This is a very creative all solar adobe home in the high desert surrounded by gorgeous mountain views, yet within easy reach of the main roads. Enjoy the peace and quiet of pristine surroundings and wonderful hikes from your doorstep as well as many area attractions. Santa Fe is only 48 miles away.
Carson National Forest, BLM land, and Santa Fe Forest are all within 2 miles. Nearby attractions include the Abiquiu Inn; Georgia O"Keefe house; Ghost Ranch; Abiquiu Lake; Chama river rafting; Christ in the Desert Monastery; Ojo Caliente hot springs and spa; and Ra Paulette caves. The Chama Scenic Railway is 1 hour to the north. There are patios on three sides so you can always choose sunshine or shade. Each patio offers beautiful views and in summer beautiful gardens and flowers. Indoors is light filled and has 5 window seats from which to enjoy the scenery. Bedding and furniture coverings and rugs are all natural fibers. I receive great joy from both the home and the outdoors and hope visitors will find the same to be true. The couch is reasonably comfortable and the back cushions are removable should you choose this as an extra bed. The whole house is yours and from your doorstep you can walk along the El Rito River, or to BLM land or Carson National Forest. Enjoy the profound quiet, watch the Ravens play, listen to birdsong, and enjoy a starry sky or spectacular sunset with a 360 degree New Mexico sky. There are very few bugs so it is comfortable outdoors at any time of the day or night. Because this is a full solar home, guests are asked to use high draw electrical items such as hairdryer, washing machine, and clothes dryer only during sunshine hours. I have a separate apartment upstairs with separate entrance. You have total privacy but I'm available if you need anything.

Humming Bird Haven is only 5 (maybe 6) miles to Ojo Caliente Spa. It sits on 10 acres and is right off 285. Only 720 sq ft, it offers two bedrooms and great kitchen plus washer and dryer and full bath. It is 59 miles to Santa Fe, 35 miles to Taos. 3 RV hookups for extra charge. Horses allowed for extra charge. High speed internet! Use your cell phone off wireless. Water is scarce. We haul water to a cistern and it is our tested but please conserve.
It is true that once in the cabin's life, it was a "trailer" as it had wheels. But.... it has 9 foot ceilings, 2 x 6 walls and lots and lots of windows. The Tiny House TV shows fascinated my husband and me, but when we went to establish our New Mexico retreat, we picked this "big" Tiny House for its style, livability and features. We have not been disappointed.
My neighborhood is unique because there is not a lot of neighborhood there. Surrounded by the Carson National Forest ( forest being used loosely as there are not huge trees), gives one the feeling of vast space and openness Georgia O Keefe's Pedernal lines up with Mesa Vibora for a very O'Keefe landscape, but it is not for the faint of heart.

Winter has arrived in Northern New Mexico bringing cold, crisp nights below a stunning star-filled sky and sunny, mild days that are perfect for exploring. From Lyden you will be only a stone’s throw away from a multitude of attractions and activities: national monuments, modern-day Pueblo communities, Georgia O’Keefe’s home, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, hiking/biking trails, ski areas, birding and fly-fishing hotspots, and local restaurants. Check out "The Neighborhood" for more on this area!
The kitchen has all the utensils you might need to prepare your own meals. If you can’t find something you need, I’m happy to lend anything from my kitchen. Please wash the dishes and leave the kitchen as you found it. The tap water in the casita comes directly from my deep well. It is pure and fabulous. Guests will find a pitcher of cold water in the refrigerator and fresh mint to enjoy with it much of the year. There are two friendly dogs and two cats on the property. They may come around to see you, but please, don’t let them into the casita. Some guests may be allergic. Please hang your wet towels on the hooks in the bathroom.
Located in Lyden, New Mexico, a traditional community along the Rio Grande, this beautifully restored adobe casita offers unique access to some of the hidden wonders of Northern New Mexico. Casita del Bosque is a quiet getaway halfway between the must-see attractions of Santa Fe and Taos and just a scenic drive away from the Georgia O’Keefe home and museums at Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. The casita is part of a two-hundred-year old adobe house that shares a wall with a capilla, San Jose del Bosque, a small chapel built to serve the early Spanish settlers of the village of Lyden, formerly known as El Bosque (The Woods). Restored in 2007 to reflect its early New Mexico beginnings, the casita has ceilings of vigas (log beams) and split cedar latillas between the vigas, and brick floors. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who wish to prepare meals. Guests will find an assortment of breakfast foods to prepare as well as homemade goodies, coffee and a variety of teas. Casita del Bosque sits at the base of the massive Mesa Prieta, which harbors tens-of-thousands of petroglyphs dating from the very earliest inhabitants of this region. Adventurous visitors who hike up its rocky slopes gain a spectacular view of the valley below and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains beyond. They may even experience the thrill of encountering ancient petroglyphs or a lone coyote along the way. For a more choreographed experience on the mesa, the Wells Petroglyph Preserve, less than a mile away, boasts the largest array of flute player petroglyphs ever recorded. The Preserve offers twice-weekly group tours as well as private tours that can be arranged in advance on their web page. If a tour is not available during your stay, hundreds of petroglyphs can be easily viewed from the road. Just a few miles to the south are the Pueblos of Ohkay Owingeh, Santa Clara and San Ildefonso, where practicing traditional Native American artists offer their sought-after artwork for sale. If the timing of your visit is right, you may have the privilege of experiencing a Pueblo feast day with traditional dances that are open to the public. In addition, several Pueblos operate thriving casinos for more modern entertainment options. A short drive away, the town of Española offers an appealing array of restaurants, many featuring traditional Northern New Mexican cuisine. While in town, stop by the visitors’ center and enjoy the gallery and gift shop operated by the Northern New Mexico Regional Arts Center at the Plaza de Española or the one hundred-year-old Chimayò Trading Post. A few minutes outside of Española is the beautiful Santa Cruz church where you can see the lovingly restored retablos and paintings that are precious to this vibrant church community. Fifteen minutes to the north of Lyden is Dixon, a tiny town known for arts and crafts, its thriving theatre scene, its wineries and its award-winning community library. Just beyond Dixon at the village of Pilar, is Orilla Verde National Recreation Area, the southernmost extension of one of our newest national monuments, Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. The road through Orilla Verde winds along the Rio Grande providing birders and fishers a unique opportunity to indulge their favorite pastimes. Alert visitors may even spot Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep along the canyon walls. You may access the famed High Road to Taos from Española. Once you turn east, you find yourself winding through beautiful New Mexico mountain villages including Chimayò, famed for its Santuario de Chimayò and traditional weavers. It is also home to Rancho de Chimayò, a favorite restaurant with locals and visitors alike. As you travel the High Road, you will be awed by the beauty of Truchas, nestled in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains at 8,000 feet. Here you turn north, passing through several small villages. At Las Trampas take time to visit the San José de Gracia Church, a designated National Historic Landmark. As you leave Las Trampas, look carefully to the east to see an ancient aqueduct made of hollowed-out logs that still brings water from a mountain spring to irrigate the fields below. You will find endless opportunities to indulge your fancies in any direction from Casita del Bosque, whether they lean toward hiking, biking, skiing, historical exploration, petroglyph viewing, birding, fishing, rafting, photography, visiting with artisans in their studios and galleries or enjoying a scrumptious meal. The Casita del Bosque Guidebook provides you with contact information, including web pages, for many of the sites mentioned as well as many others in Northern New Mexico. Your time at Casita del Bosque will provide a memorable experience, one that you won’t find in a city or a hotel. Reserve today!

Zou graag weer blijven!

  • Comfortabel, rustig, prachtig uitzicht.

We zouden hier zeker weer verblijven.

Located on a 1,200-acre family-owned ranch, Cliff East is a charming, light-filled casita w/ queen bed, full kitchen, private bath & porch with mountain views. Ojo Caliente's hot springs are just 4 miles away. Base rate includes cleaning fee + taxes.
Cliff River Springs has seven casitas in all. Cliff East, listed here, has a queen bed and is one of the three casitas that can connect (or not) in Cliff House -- which can be great if you're traveling with friends or family. Or you can enjoy complete privacy. The base rate includes taxes and your cleaning fee. We do have a 2-night minimum requirement. // The land is what's so special about this place...and it's all yours to explore. It's very private and quiet. You can hike forever in four directions, read in the sun in a forest hammock, and listen to the owls call along the river at night. We call it the "near wilderness," bordered as it is by actual wilderness. And yet, we're just a few miles from the wonderful Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Spa and Resort, an hour from Santa Fe, 40 minutes from Abiquiu and 50 minutes from Taos. We're new and working hard to provide visitors to Santa Fe, Taos and Ojo Caliente a comfortable, memorable lodging alternative in a stunning, one-of-a-kind setting.
What we treasure about Cliff River Springs' location are the dark star-laden skies here, the fact that in any direction our casitas and ranch buildings are the only structures you can see, and the easy access to the forest, state and federal lands which surround us and make for incredible hiking, birding and photography opportunities.

This cozy 2-story home sits on 10 acres of cottonwoods, sage, juniper & willow. A creek runs along the edge of the land with views of Cerro Pedernal & several mountain ranges. Animals welcome! We're within short distance of amazing hiking & hot springs including Plaza Blanca, Ghost Ranch & Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. (If Raven is already booked, check out Hawk House also on our land!) Also offer licensed private massage +/ or Ayurvedic consultations upon request. Write host to inquire.
The house has a spacious upstairs loft bedroom with a queen bed, a full downstairs kitchen with living room and bunk bed, (2 stacked single beds), set apart enough to feel like it's an extra room, washer/ dryer, couch and full bathroom with jacuzzi. It is minimal and clean, with strong bones built in '07. It overlooks a valley of Cottonwood trees, sagebrush, willow and juniper, with lots of walking opportunities. For heating: I have the option of either a propane heater and/ or an electric infrared heater. Both are strong enough to heat the space on their own. I encourage folks to use the electric heater, when possible, as all of the land's electricity comes from our solar panels. But if you prefer/ need the extra help with propane heat, please be my guest. ;) Perfect for either the single artist, looking to be alone and with nature, and/ or a family or group, sleeping up to 4.

Tucked behind the Dixon Plaza, and situated directly above the Acequia de la Plaza, the Long House is one of the true gems in Dixon. Built in the 1700s and lovingly renovated in the 1990s, the Long House offers a unique and historic experience in the heart of Dixon. Centrally located off the Dixon Plaza, you'll be a five minute walk to the Coop, library, post office, and Zuly's Cafe. It's a great place to relax and enjoy Dixon and as a home base to venture and explore northern NM.
3/28/20 Update: Due to covid 19, orders given for people to stay home and my concern for my family and the communities of northern New Mexico, I have made some temporary changes. Since access to testing is a challenge and the symptoms can mimic the flu, if you or anyone in your party are sick in any way prior to your arrival date or, if you are traveling from a known hot spot of covid 19, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. I've also removed the Instant Book option so that I have the option to connect with you prior to accepting a reservation. I increased the minimum stay to 5 days with a day blocked out on either side of each reservation, and I've also blocked out the rest of April. The extra day will allow for the additional cleaning and disinfecting that is recommended in between guests. Guests should still reach out to the caretakers prior to their arrival date, but face to face interactions with the guests will be kept to a minimum and phone calls and texts with the caretakers should be used. Since the washer and dryer are in the caretakers' living space, I've removed access to it to protect their them. I hope that you understand the intention to keep you and everyone safe during these unprecedented times, and hopefully soon, things will return to normal! While some businesses have temporarily closed, the Coop and Sugar Nymphs have remained open and are offering pick up and curb side options so you can get what you need. Call ahead to any of the places nearby to find out if they're open and their hours of operation. **** Having recently traveled to Europe and Canada, and having stayed in airbnb listed apartments managed by hosts who manage many properties with minimally equipped kitchens with sparse furnishings, I realized that the airbnb experience of being a guest in someone's home is becoming less common. The Long House was my mom's house, where my family and I have gathered since the early 90's. I built the Addition on the back of the Long House where she painted and practiced her photography and entertained friends and family from the area and all over the world. In that spirit, I have opened up my family home to the airbnb community. I am proud to let you know that this is my home and I live here too! The art and the furnishings and the kitchen (without a microwave!) are the way that I want it because I return each year with my family for extended stays. I work on the house and the property so that you too can enjoy being in this special place! New for 2019, I'm super excited to share that I laid flagstone on the back patio! I bought 4 tons of Colorado red flagstone from my friend Mark Saxe at Southwest Stoneworks, just up the road in Rinconada, and worked on leveling the ground and installing the flagstone. I've wanted to lay flagstone on the back patio for a very long time and I'm so happy that I had the time this year to get it done. In 2017, I replaced the kitchen countertops with granite and an undermount sink and new pulldown faucet, added a great, new sectional couch with lots of pillows and other new furniture, more lighting and floor coverings, and a new refrigerator to make the Long House even more comfortable and inviting! Check out the photos to see the new countertop, sectional couch and comfy chair in the living room, and all new photos of the rest of the house. Time spent at the Long House is the kind of quality time that we so rarely get elsewhere. The thick, adobe walls help to keep the house quiet and cool in the summer and warm in the winter. As there is rarely any traffic by the house, you will be amazed at how quiet it is. This summer, we awoke to the sounds of the Rio Embudo as there is still snow runoff rushing down the valley. The acequias are full, and the sounds of the wind and the rain and the thunder greeted us every day. The front porch is a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and to greet the neighbors on their morning walk. The back porch is my favorite spot as the house is perched above the acequia and the lower fields that run to the river. The expansive view of the Dixon valley and the hills beyond is an inspiration. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are always a treat on the back patio table. The beauty of being in Dixon is that time seems to move more slowly. A walk up to the Co-op for some food or a little bit farther to La Chiripada Winery to get a bottle of wine for dinner is enough to break up a perfect day spent enjoying time being at home. Our neighbor's dog, Romeo, loves to make the rounds in the evening and will often stop by to say hello! He's super friendly and loves a good scratch by his tail. He's getting older now, and unfortunately is no longer able to control his bowels, so keep an eye out for him and his droppings! Named after its construction, the Long House was built by adding one room at a time from east to west in the 1700s. As the original family expanded and grew, another room was added next to the last room built. Room to room access used to be through doors that opened to the exterior, as there were no doors between rooms until much later. You’ll find that each room still has a door that opens to the exterior (except the bathroom), although the yoga room’s old exterior door now opens into the sunroom, which I added in the 1990s. Unique and lovingly renovated, the Long House encompasses 1800 square feet of living space and boasts traditional vigas with split cedar and rough cut, plank ceilings, 2.5’ thick adobe walls with traditional mud plaster on the exterior, and diamond point plaster on the interior walls. The secluded back porch area offers a wonderful setting for meals and a gorgeous view of the Dixon valley and Rio Embudo, while the front porch offers a wonderful view of the sunsets. As someone who loves to cook, the full kitchen has everything you'll need, including a new natural gas stove with oven, coffee grinder and maker, toaster oven, blender, frig/freezer and all the cooking utensils and pans you’ll need to enjoy a home cooked meal. A microwave you will not find, though. The master bedroom has a king size, Sleep Number bed, with a new, gel foam mattress topper, a wood stove to take off the chill, and private access to the back porch. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, private access to the front porch, and connects directly to the yoga/meditation room (with yoga mats included) and the adobe sunroom added onto the front side of the yoga room. The entire house is heated with radiant and baseboard heat, and each room has its own thermostat (except for the sunroom). The bathroom features a clawfoot bath tub for long, slow baths and modified for showers too. If you need to do laundry, the washer/dryer are located in the Addition, where my caretakers live. Just coordinate with the Gabrielle or Noel and they'll give you access to the laundry.
Early November each year, the Dixon Studio Tour features the renowned, local Embudo valley artists and their work. Visit their studios, talk to the artists and see their work from the past year. It's an exceptional opportunity to go places in the area that are only available during this weekend, and to purchase art directly from the artists. November in Dixon is not to be missed! The website has the listing of the artists and a map to their studios and a preview of what you'll find. Use your favorite search engine to check out the Dixon Studio Tour (for some unknown reason, airbnb won't let me show you the website address) According to my neighbor down the lane who teaches archeology at Barnard College and spends his summers in Dixon, the Dixon Plaza was the prior location of the Picuris Pueblo. Old pottery shards can be found on the lanes and pathways as you walk. And if you have the pleasure of visiting in the summer, be sure to check out the farmer's market each Wednesday starting around 3:30 pm in front of the Coop in June, July, August and into the fall!

Escape to the natural beauty of the Embudo River Valley in this private, quiet casita on a 5+ acre property in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Located in the village of Dixon, this is the perfect jumping off point for ski trips to Taos, Sipapu, and Sante Fe, for snowshoeing or cross country skiing, or visits to Ghost Ranch and Ojo Caliente. Visit local wineries and the majestic Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. Enjoy long mornings and evenings relaxing by the fire.
Bosque Cottage is our beautiful property which includes the main house, a small art studio, a tiny house, a garden, and the casita. The property is on the Embudo River and the bosque (forest) that lines the river. The approximately 900 square foot, straw bale casita is bermed into a hillside approximately 50 yards (150 feet) from the main house and is situated for maximum privacy. When inside, the thick, straw bale insulated walls add to the quiet and keep the space cool in summer and warm in winter. The space has a mini split air conditioner for those hot summer days. In the winter the casita is warmed with radiant in-floor heating, the mini split heater, and a wood stove fireplace. The artist owned and decorated space features a modern aesthetic with rustic touches, a rotating collection of small-scale works of contemporary art, and a beautifully designed patio with sunset views of the surrounding hills and mesas. The patio has a chiminea fire pit, a charcoal grill, shade, seating, and lighting. The shade is removed in winter to let in more sunshine. Off of the patio is a short trail that leads to an arroyo which can be explored by guests. One bundle of firewood and firestarter are provided for the chiminea and/or wood stove. Additional firewood (with firestarter) can be purchased for $5.00 per bundle. The kitchen is stocked with organic olive oil, organic cooking oil, coffee, coffee filters, sugar, salt, pepper, and some other basic spices. We also provide basic cookware, dishes, utensils, a coffee maker, and an ice maker. There is a stackable washer/dryer in the kitchen with eco-friendly laundry detergent. Note that the washer is appropriate for light loads only. The television streams Netflix, Hulu, and Hulu Live, which provides many cable and local channels. Guests can also play music using the Pandora app on the television. In the bathroom we provide Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Stairs lead off the living room to the loft bedroom with a queen sized bed. Downstairs in the living room, a chair folds out to a comfortable twin bed (this is the “sofa bed”).
Dixon is a small, agricultural community famous for its orchards. The community is very diverse and peaceful. The Sipapu Ski Resort, a favorite of locals, is just 30 minutes away. About the same distance are areas good for sledding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The casita is just 25 minutes from Taos and 45 minutes from Santa Fe, and all of the cultural attractions these cities have to offer. Drive 20 minutes in another direction and you will be high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains where opportunities for hiking, fishing, and enjoying nature abound. About one mile from the casita is the Dixon Co-op Market, a small but well-stocked grocery store and deli. The village has a restaurant, Zuly’s, which has excellent New Mexican food and a patio. There are three wineries very nearby, one within walking distance. Access to the Rio Grande National Monument (a.k.a., “the gorge”) is approximately 10 miles from Bosque Cottage and not to be missed.

La Biblioteca is the enchanting guesthouse on a magical 10-acre property in Abiquiu, NM. Originally built as a library for the main house, it's now a unique 1-BR cottage. Nestled in the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe, the house has jaw-dropping views from every window and the porch. Fantastic for 1 or 2 people, and great for a couple with a child. Come visit O'Keefe Country and stay in the coziest spot of all! We absolutely rent to all races, genders, religions and backgrounds!
The Biblioteca is a 1-bedroom cottage deep in the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe. First it was a stone shed. Then a library was built nearby. Finally a rusted steel structure connected the two, and this extraordinary cottage was born! A bedroom with a couch, a kitchen/dining area and a lavish stone bathroom awaits your visit. There's no separate living room, but the front porch serves as a sitting area with views to swoon for! Come visit this eclectic abode in some of the most beautiful landscape in America!
This area of Abiquiu has some of the most beautiful views in the area. Houses are spread out and neighbors are few, but not nonexistent. You'll hear coyotes at night and if you're lucky, an owl.

    Lindsey2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • La Biblioteca is een prachtige plek in het rustige Abiquiu, New Mexico. Ik raad het ten sterkste aan.

    Joan2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
Hopelijk komen we terug!

T R A N Q U I L O A tranquil and rustic experience secluded yet easily accessible on a hillside below the stunning Cerrito Blanco in Abiquiu. This large, 24-foot yurt makes the perfect weekend or week-long getaway for a couple or family looking for a unique experience. Sip your coffee (an organic medium roast is provided) on the deck, practice yoga, meditate, read/write, gaze up at the Milky Way, bird watch and take in the beauty of the Chama River Valley, right in the heart of Tewa country!
T H E S E T T I N G Step outside and you’re in a high desert paradise, at 6,000 feet elevation in the Chama River Valley. Step inside the Yurt and marvel at the Central Asian decor, craftsman style with stunning woodwork details. There is a bright & equipped kitchen, bathroom with European-style shower, indoor seating area with a futon and breakfast bar, as well as a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights. The Annex is located about 50 steps down a path (outside) from the Yurt. You will have to walk down the path from the Yurt to use the bathroom or kitchen. S L E E P I N G A R R A N G E M E N T S The yurt has a brand new Queen memory foam mattress as of January 2020, a twin bed with a trundle (also a twin), and a comfortable couch for another to sleep. In the main building (50 steps outside down a path) is another full size futon with a comfortable memory foam topper. The Yurt can accommodate 5 people comfortably. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the set-up, and we encourage you to read our reviews to get a better idea of this truly unique and unforgettable accommodation experience! A R U S T I C E X P E R I E N C E *This is a rustic experience and not ideal for guests with mobility issues or guests who are uncomfortable with keeping a wood burning stove going for heat in the middle of the night.* Please read ALL of the details before booking. Thank you :) Why we call this a "Rustic" experience: 1. You will have to walk outside about 50 steps between the Annex (Kitchen/Bathroom space) up to the Yurt. We are in the high desert, at 6,000 ft elevation. Bring slippers and a jacket and expect chilly weather at night! We will provide headlamps. 2. We have a rural septic system. All toilet paper must be discarded in the covered bin provided. 3. The shower is a standing, "in-bathroom" European style shower -- no doors or tub. A squeegee is provided to clear excess water into the drain after showering. 4. The Yurt can run hot in the summer months, especially June, July and August. Windows can be opened to provide more ventilation, but please be aware that in the heat of the day (between 12-5pm) it can get very warm in there. The Annex does have a futon couch and a very nice outdoor patio that gets great ventilation during the day, and is a great place to hang out. 5. In colder months (October-April), most guests will heat the yurt with the wood burning stove. We provide wood and kindling throughout your stay, however you'll be required to feed the fire hourly throughout the night to keep warm and cozy. We also provide space heaters to keep the chill off, if you prefer not to wake up and stoke the fire throughout the night, however it will be cold with just a space heater, especially on nights with below-freezing temperatures. Again, this is rustic and part of the experience. Most of our guests are happy to feed the fire. If you are highly sensitive to or uncomfortable with the cold, please consider booking the Yurt at a warmer time of year (May-September), or consider sleeping in the Annex -- a smaller space with a space heater that is much more efficient. Please let us know if you intend to do so, so we can make the bed there for you. 6. Rural living is rustic! There is wind! And dust! And sometimes small critters! We pride ourselves in taking great care of our guests, but if you're looking for a five star resort type of experience, this might not be the best place for you. Most of our guests leave with a very memorable experience, and many return! If there is anything we can do to make your stay extra special, please let us know.
The yurt is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. Abiquiu is a wonderful place in itself, and this sweet, truly unique yurt makes a great home base for some memorable adventures. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked. There are just a few restaurants in Abiquiu. Mamacita's Pizzeria (closed Mondays), Bode's General Store has a deli with takeout and dine-in options, and the Abiquiu Inn has a great restaurant. A 20 minute drive to El Rito and you can experience a classic New Mexican family restaurant, El Farolito. Check the current hours and be sure to bring cash.

A good place to stay while attending Bolad's Kitchen. Walking distance, only 1/3 mile, easy to return home for lunch. Guesthouse for 3 people, connected to my home. Good energy & atmosphere with enough comfort to enhance your experience, work & projects both introspective & active.
This is a wonderful space, bright, clear, and good energy. It was created to be your home away from home, a cozy place from which to create/live your own adventure. It is comfortable and convenient, good to relax, breathe deeper, recover, re-energize after the deep work of the day. There is a newly paved, mostly shaded patio with table & chairs, grill. The guesthouse (400 sq ft) is located on 4 acres of land and contains everything you might need, a wonderful bed and a fully equipped kitchenette. The space is best for 2 or 3 people. The largest room serves as bedroom with a queen size bed (Serta Perfect Sleeper). It also has a dining area with a round butcher block table & chairs, and a futon couch. The other room is the kitchenette with a twin size couch/bed. The beds are firm with memory foam toppers. The kitchenette comes fully equipped for your cooking pleasure. It makes this place unique and a real find especially for those who like to cook for themselves. There is a 4-burner gas stove and a motel size refrigerator. It is also equipped with a counter top electric oven/toaster, microwave, automatic coffee pot, coffee filters, electric teapot, blender, and crock pot. Some cooking basics, organic instant coffee and herb tea bags are provided. Our water is from the community well. It always tests clean, is highly mineralized, but not sulfur, like the waters of the hot springs just down the road. If you do not like the taste, you may want to bring purified water with you. Many windows fill the rooms with lots of beautiful, natural light. Passive solar energy concepts including bamboo shades, thermal curtains, ceiling fans and a shaded area on the west side of the guesthouse moderate temperatures inside and out. A new heating/air conditioning system has been installed in the main bedroom/dining area. The floors are ceramic tile. The bathroom includes a shower stall and a closet. If relaxing at the Springs is what brings you here, we provide extra towels and a lock for the lockers, because they charge for those services. Every effort has been made to provide a healthy and healing environment for you, including all natural, non-toxic cleaning products. We are constantly upgrading to provide better for your needs and comfort. We do everything we can to keep you within budget. The price of your reservation includes everything we pay for preparation & clean-up, local taxes and insurance. There are patio tables and chairs outside and a BBQ grill, the kind that needs your briquettes and lighter fluid.
For locals, Ojo is a small, rural, ranching and agricultural village in northern New Mexico. Northern New Mexico is a high desert with very dynamic weather that changes with the time of day and by the minute. In Ojo, we are about 6,500’ above sea level. Generally the skies are clear. In winter the nights are very cold and the days are moderate. Summer is hot, usually not too hot, and nights are cool and fresh. Because of this, it is unusual to have air conditioning except in motels and mobile homes. Those of us who live here have gotten used to the whims of nature and technology. I hope you will too. Ojo Caliente is the place to stay for a relaxing spa or family holiday, and a quiet healing retreat. This Vacation Rental resides in the village of Ojo Caliente whose name means ‘hot eye’ referring to our natural hot springs. Our hot springs have become a world class spa and resort drawing people from around the world. Lots of good hiking in all around, other activities, events, concerts, gatherings close by for you to research. We are five miles and 5 minutes south of the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa. We are centrally located between Santa Fe, Taos, Los Alamos and Georgia O’Keefe country, all approx. a 1 hour drive. The Abiquiu art community, Espanola, Oke Oweenge (San Juan Pueblo) are a half hour drive. The eight northern pueblos (the communities of native people, Pueblo Indians) are located along the Rio Grande River between Santa Fe and Taos. The town of Ojo Caliente has 5 restaurants and cafe/snack bars, a cash machine at the Springs (maybe at our grocery store), a local gas station/grocery store (not open 7/11), and gift shops. There are several places in town that offer use of their internet service.

We do have a 2-night minimum stay requirement. // The land is what's so special about this place, and it's yours to explore. It's very private and quiet. You can hike forever in four directions, read in the sun in a forest hammock, and listen to the owls call along the river at night. We call it the "near wilderness," bordered as it is by actual wilderness. And yet we're just a few miles from the wonderful Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Spa and Resort, and only an hour north of Santa Fe.

Part of a lovely organic farm along the Chama River in Medanales, neighboring Abiquiu. Within a short travel distance are countless historical, cultural, natural and recreational treasures. The casita has a small living/kitchen area, a full bathroom with Mexican tile, and a separate bedroom that sleeps two comfortably. The loft is accessed through the bedroom and can accomodate an additional child or adult A covered portal with a wood stove overlooks the vineyard and fields.
Great for artists, writers, healers, nature lovers, explorers or people just in need of rest and relaxation
Medanales is a small agricultural community just south of Abiquiu of Georgia O’Keeffe fame. The landscape varies from pastures to badlands, with the magic Sierra Negra on the horizon.

Family size home. Warm in winter and cool in summer. Spacious living areas. Fully equipped kitchen. Excellent drinking water from the well. Strong wifi and a land line phone. Master Bedroom has 1 Double bed and 1 twin bed. 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds. If needed I can make a king bed, with advance notice. All bedding and towels provided. This is a modest home, very basic and comfy.
The short driveway is lined in plum trees, white with blossoms in April, and hopefully full of plums in August. This is a modest and welcoming home set up to accommodate families and groups of friends. This space is comfortable and private with lots of windows full of New Mexico's blue skies. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans. But no microwave. The back porch is lovely and faces a quiet garden and yard which are shaded by giant cottonwood trees and full of wild birds. The main house is across the garden from the casita, where the host resides. Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is 10 miles north. 1 hr driving to either Taos or Santa Fe. It is 40 minutes to Abiquiu, 1 hr to Ghost Ranch or Bandalier National Park. The Santa Fe Opera House is 45 minutes from here. This is 15 minutes from Ohkay Owhinge Pueblo and Casino. Espanola, NM is 20 minutes away with the Santa Claran Casino and Buffalo Thunder is 40 minutes away on the road to Santa Fe. There are many other historic and interesting places easily traveled to from here. I have been living and working here since 2005, and have lots of knowledge and information that may help you while visiting Ojo Caliente. I live in the Casita just across the yard. If I am not here to check you in I will send you instructions on how to access the key. I am ready to help with questions about the area and things to do. We are at a place called "Shadow Mountain", it is a straight away that used to be the watering hole on this road, you can still see the cut in the Mesa behind my house that was the old stage coach road. We are shadowed by the Mesa to the east and the Ojo Caliente river is across the road to the west. I love the river, I go walking with my dog daily down by the hots springs, I love to hike up the arroyos. I love the endless blue skys, the rainy season, the snow and the sandhill cranes who migrate along the river in October and February. They call loudly to each other the entire time they fly and it always amazes me to hear them. The road is well maintained in all types of weather. There are 2 ways to get to Taos, both are gorgeous roads. The road to Santa Fe is easy to follow.
