“Avondale Dairy Bar has been a local tradition since the mid 1950s. Their ice cream is delicious and they also have a number of wonderful flavours of frozen yoghurt (our favourite) and even plant-based treats. We can't figure out where they find so many nice young kids to work behind the counter. It's like a trip back to the 1950s! You shouldn't miss the chance to visit this Niagara gem while you're touring the region!”

Nature
“While it’s not open all year round, Brock’s Monument (14184 Niagara Pkwy, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, L0S 1J0) located in Queenston Heights Park actually contains a spiral staircase that takes you all the way to the top – for an interesting view of the entire Niagara region! There is a small charge for climbing all the way to the top, and it’s hard to pin down exactly when its open. The entrance to Brock’s Monument is behind a giant wooden door at the base. If the monument is open for climbing the door will be open, if not, the door will be closed. It is a strenuous stair climb all the way to the top – you likely have to have some physical endurance to attempt the climb! ”

Lodging
“Great salt water pool with small hot tub. I love the hotel and plenty of free parking. Services are the usual fare but I found everyone had their appointments at the same time so it seemed crowded and the therapists all said their goodbyes to each other while you tried to navigate around them to get back to the change rooms. My aunt thought it was too rustic and would have preferred a more modern setting. Just our personal opinions. There is also an outdoor heated grotto...it is okay.”
