Bloodlust: Mysteries of Victorian Boston
Explore a true crime murder mystery in quaint, post-Civil War Boston. In the late 1800s, Boston experienced a rash of gruesome murders and unexplained phenomena. People were accused of being witches and vampires, and of conversing with the dead, all while a serial murder lurked just out of sight. Looking for a time that isn't listed? Send me a message and maybe we can work something out. While we made pioneering strides in the new fields of forensics and toxicology, we hosted mad scientists and psychologists who treated the mentally ill in unsavory ways. The background for a number of historic movies and shows, the country’s largest Victorian neighborhood, the South End is all within a few blocks of Copley Square and Back Bay. Buried beneath this neighborhood's eye-catching English gardens and breathtaking brick rowhouses, the Gothic churches and strange statuary that tourist rarely see, is a unique experience you won’t want to miss. There will be some graphic discussion of violence and murder. Participant discretion is advised.
Een revolutionaire tour door de geschiedenis
A complete retelling of the American story from the founding of Boston to the Declaration of Independence. Unlike most tours which limit themselves exclusively to what's on the Freedom Trail - walking from one end to the other and providing short highlights and separate overviews of each stop - this tour pulls everything together into an immersive citywide narrative: recreating the drama and recapturing the energy that invented America. We visit 14 (of 16) iconic Freedom Trail landmarks in the same order in which the history unfolded, bringing to life the passions, personalities, and psychologies behind world changing events like The Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, and Battle of Bunker Hill. We also explore all of Boson's original neighborhoods (including those not on the Freedom Trail) covering both the major sights and the hidden gems so you'll enjoy the charm of the old town while getting a real sense of the beautiful and booming modern city as well. No big crowds or silly costumes. The story incorporates insights from the most prestigious scholars in the field and is presented with light-hearted humor and enthusiasm; it will be equally educational as entertaining for history buffs and newcomers alike. Awarded Boston Magazine's Best Historical Tour in 2022
Walk Your Way Through Boston's History
We will start our tour at the Lenox hotel in the heart of the Back Bay neighborhood, and will end at historic Faneuil Hall where there are endless places to eat and explore after the tour. Not only will we visit the famous Boston Freedom Trail, but also hidden treasures not covered on other tours. My tour runs approximately 2 1/2 hours. Unlike some other walking tours, I try to cover as much of Boston as possible. The walk is not fast paced, but we do cover about two miles. Wear comfortable shoes. The Back Bay - Explore one of Boston's most famous neighborhoods. Home to some of Boston's most beautiful buildings such as the Boston Public Library and the Trinity Church. Boston Public Garden - Visit the beautiful gardens, and say hello to the Swan Boats, and the Make Way for Ducklings statues! If you come during the right time of year, they may even be donning some accessories! Boston Common - Bask in the freedom of the oldest public park in the United States. Cheers Bar - Where everybody knows your name. Beacon Hill - View Boston's most historic neighborhood. Complete with original brick sidewalks and gas lanterns (you can thank some friendly 20th-century neighborhood rioters for those bricks). The New State House - Is as impressive as the political debates inside...we think.

Create a Marine Botanical with local Seaweed
Seaweed pressing was a popular art form during the Victorian era when people summered on the coast and has a direct history to Newport. We will be working at tables set up with seaweed filled trays to study the different species and speculate on collage combinations. Other materials are rag paper, blotter paper, towels, nylon cloth, cardboard and weights. Small tools, such as tweezers, scissors, toothpicks and soft bristle brushes are also used as needed. Once the seaweed is positioned on the paper as desired, and the excess water removed, it is ready for pressing. The collage is transferred to fresh blotter paper with the nylon cloth placed on top to prevent sticking, then sandwiched into cardboard. The package is placed onto a flat surface and weighted down. The element of surprise is also a factor in this process and you won’t know what the end result will be until it is completely dry. The drying time is usually a couple of days to a week and you will leave with your pressing to continue the process at home. Other things to note In this workshop you will definitely be getting your hands wet! Handling seaweed and working with ocean water are part of the tactile process.

Goat Snuggle Session in Rhode Island
Must love goats is our motto here at Hidden Brook Acres! Come explore the daily happenings on a dairy goat farm nestled in the forests of Rhode Island. Immerse yourself in the presence of our nigerian dwarf goats, the miniature breed of dairy goat. Goat snuggling is always a big hit with adults and children alike! Come spend some time sitting in the pasture with our herd. Depending on the season we could be on dry lot (dirt paddock) or green grass. This experience guarantees time relaxing in a field of goats, observing herd dynamics, an educational Q&A with a knowledgeable goat farmer. Relax with the herd in the barn or bring a blanket along and sit with goats in the pasture. Our goats really enjoy the company and might even rest on the ground with you. This is an outdoor experience and weather might impact your visit; we do not operate during inclement weather. We love pets but for everyone’s safety we cannot allow visiting pets to the farm. Please feel free to b.y.o.b. just note our herd is underage. We also have a farm stand that is open for purchasing hand crafted goat milk soaps and other goods sourced right here on the farm! Expect to get dirty and dress in clothing that you don't mind having hoof prints on!
Create a Mosaic in Boston Artist Studio
In this experience you’ll make your own mosaic at the SoWa Mosaics studio in the heart of Boston’s Art + Design district! SoWa Mosaics is a bright and welcoming space featuring mosaics made with homemade tiles of all shapes and sizes. Each student chooses a square board or picture frame as their base. We will spend a few minutes talking about mosaics and our unique process then you’ll get started glueing tiles and creating your own unique mosaic selecting from an abundance of our handmade colorful tiles. During the workshop we’ll be walking around to help guide and encourage your work. For smaller groups we like to sit down and create one with you too! At the end of the workshop, your mosaic will be glued and safe to take home but needs a day to get sturdy and dry completely before you can grout it. Each student goes home with a goodie bag containing grout, gloves and instructions on how to put the finishing touches on the artwork. After or before the workshop we encourage you to walk around and visit the 100+ other artists, galleries and shops here. Sundays are the most active with several other studios open and a vintage market in the basement. On Sundays in May thru October we have food trucks and outdoor markets too!
