SouthWind is completely private, however it is one side of a duplex. Each side shares the private beach access.

Parties over eight are encouraged to book both sides. For those details, please view SouthWind Sisters under my profile. SouthWind Sisters can accommodate up to sixteen in beds.

Come live the Gulf Shores life and experience the beach the way it was meant to be, where Southern Charm meets Bohemian lifestyle and unforgettable vacation memories are created.

Our three bedroom beach home is tucked away on the Coast's edge. Step out onto the sugar sand beach right from our porch. No roads to cross, no mess to fool with. Easy Breezy Beach Life!

Like most beach homes, our house is on pilings. The main level of the home is elevated, so you do need to climb stairs to access the main floor of the home. There are also interior stairs which lead to the master bedroom and queen bedroom.

Your entry door is under the house up the western stairs. When in doubt, remember that the Gulf is south. :-)

There is a keyless entry on your entry door. You will be given the access code to the door prior to your arrival.

Upon entry into the home you are greeted by a bright living/dining/kitchen area. This layout is perfect for enjoying your travel companions. The living room has a sofa, cozy chairs, and plenty of space to relax. The flat screen television has access to cable as well as to your Netflix, Amazon Prime or other apps via roku. You are to login to your own Netflix and Prime accounts and are responsible for logging out upon departure, we do not provide our logins. This is the perfect space to enjoy family and friends over a board game or late night movie.

The kitchen is fully stocked with more than the basics. We aim to supply you with all of the pots, pans, utensils, etc you can need. If you find that we are missing an item please let us know. Please note that the home will occasionally have salt, pepper, olive oil and the like, however we do not supply these items and we do not guarantee that these items will be available. We offer a regular drip coffee pot as well as a Keurig. The bar has seating for four and our kitchen table seats four. There is an additional dining table that seats eight on the southern facing porch.

The main level guest bedroom is on the north side of the main level of the home. This bedroom has one queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds, along with access to a private balcony.

The three piece full bath offers a tub/shower combo with fresh linens.

You have a private laundry room on the main level of the home adjacent the guest bath. Guests should always supply their own detergent, however we do try to leave some out as well.

Up the interior stairs you will find the master bedroom ensuite on the south side of the home. It has a king bed, chest of drawers, night stands, reading lamps, cable television with roku and a closet for storing your luggage. The three piece bath has a walk in shower and plenty of counter space. This ensuite also has a private balcony with gorgeous views of our coast line. Such a great place for your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. Cheers!

A second guest bedroom is upstairs as well, located on the north side of the home. It has queen bed, chest of drawers, and nightstands with reading lamps.

Located on the second floor, next to the guest bedroom, is a third full bath. The upstairs three piece full bath offers a tub/shower combo with fresh linens.

The southern facing porch is divine. We have plenty of seating for the entire family as well as a dining table for enjoying meals or board games. Please do not take our porch seating to the beach. We do not provide each equipment, but I will gladly put you in touch with a great local rental company for such needs.

Your outdoor shower has hot and cold water. *Please always use the outdoor shower prior to or in lieu of showering indoors. The sand is hard on our pipes :-)

Your private propane grill is located underneath the home. Please leave the grill clean and covered. Guests are responsible for bringing all of their BBQ supplies. Please do not leave the propane tank empty for the next guests. Ace Hardware (across from Rouses on 59) has the best deal for propane refills and tanks.

Items to snag prior to arrival:
- toilet paper and paper products/trash bags
- preferred hand/dish soaps/detergents
- specific toiletries
- cooking staples (spices, oils, etc).
We always make an effort to offer starter supplies for guests. However, due to supply chain hiccups and purchase allotments caused by the pandemic, I can no longer guarantee that these items will be stocked for use. Be sure to snag these items on your way to the house. If you forget these items, Rouses and Walmart are both minutes from the house.

Our beaches are quiet and not publicly accessible.

Gulf Shores has tons of fun family attractions, restaurants, bars and events. We have a detailed list of bars, restaurants, and grocery stores in the "neighborhood overview" section of our listing.

We aim to keep our home and beach neat and tidy. DO NOT LEAVE ITEMS AT THE BEACH OVERNIGHT! Our beaches are home to endangered Sea Turtles during nesting season. Beach gear is a serious hinderance to their nesting success.

Alabama Wildlife is real - you could potentially see creatures. Please do not disturb the wildlife.

We do not issue refunds due to weather. We only issue refunds for Officially Issued Voluntary or Mandatory Evacuations.

Age requirement of twenty-one. Adults younger than twenty-five need to get my approval before booking.

BEACH INFO:
- Swimming in the Gulf is much different than swimming in a pool. It is important to respect the strength of the water and to protect the marine life that lives in our area. You can check the surf conditions before heading to the beach. Rip tides are a serious concern for our area. For the safety of your family please pay attention to water conditions. Always check tide and weather conditions before getting in the Gulf.

- We are near numerous nature preserves. We have a lot of wildlife in the area and we strive to protect the wildlife. Be mindful of where you are walking as there are snakes in the woods, though they don't like to socialize often. :-) You could potentially see snakes, coyotes, turtles, and other creatures. Please do not disturb the wildlife.

- Do not leave beach equipment on the each overnight! Our beaches are home to endangered Sea Turtles during nesting season. Beach gear is a serious hinderance to their nesting success.

- On that same note, it is highly important to respect the Sea Turtles especially during nesting season which runs May through October. It is a federal offense to disturb a Sea Turtle or its nest. In an effort to help this endangered species, despite what you see other's doing, do not leave beach equipment on the beach overnight and do not leave on bright flood lights. The flood lights disorient the baby sea turtles which results in a very sad ending of their lives. If the Fish and Wildlife department can pinpoint a home's flood light to a disturbed nest, it is also a federal offense. Help us care for our endangered species.

Q: Do you offer early Check-in or Late Check-out?
A: If you are arriving earlier just let me know, I will do my best to accommodate you. During the busy months of summer season this is almost impossible, but it never hursts to ask.

Q: When I try to book the room Airbnb gives me an error regarding verification. A: We require all Airbnb guests who book with us to be ID verified, if you are having trouble with this we recommend contacting Airbnb directly as they handle the verification process.

Q: When I try to book Airbnb won't let me put in the dates I want.
A: In most cases this is because someone else has already booked the home for those nights. However we generally block out dates more than twelve months in advance as we prefer not to take bookings this far ahead. If you are looking at booking a stay a year in the future we are willing to discuss it.

Q: I have a friend who wants to stay with us, can they sleep on the floor?
A: Unfortunately the maximum number of people we allow in our home is non-negotiable. If you have additional friends who want to stay, they will either need to find an alternate accommodation. Barrett is associated with other properties in the neighborhood, she is happy to help your friends find another place close by.

Q: When I put the dates in I wanted the price of the home went up.
A: The nightly price of the home is variable, the prices for spring break, summer months and certain events will be higher. In some circumstances Airbnb reverts to showing the base nightly price and then shows the exact price when it calculates the total price of your stay.

Q: Are there any additional fees involved in my stay?
A: In most cases the total shown by Airbnb is the total price you pay. The most common exception to this is to cover damage costs which are rare, subject to discussion and agreement.

- Beach Rentals + Extras - To assist in a better beach experience (less chores involved) we recommend renting a tent/umbrella and chairs from either Beach Bums or Gulf Shores Beach Rentals. They also both offer kayaks, paddle boards, and other needs such as pac-n-plays, etc.

- Paddle Board Yoga - Get ready for a FUN time followed by the most peaceful and unique savasana of your life. Paddle Board Yoga classes launch from a tiny beach next to a hidden local gem, the AnchorBar & Grill. One of the greatest views in all of Orange Beach and you will not be disappointed by the food and beverages if you decide to stick around after class! They also offer Paddle Board Yoga Classes out of Adventures Aquatic through Perdido Beach Resort (on Cotton Bayou). It is such a beautiful and convenient location too! If you are interested in this let us know. Group classes and private session available - beginners welcome.

- Gulf Shores Jet Ski Rentals by Blue Sky Water Sports - Another great way to experience the Bay and Gulf. You can rent a jet ski by day or longer. - Parasailing on Fort Morgan

- Chute Em Up Parasail - Chute Em Up has been taking customers on the most fun parasailing trips in the South Alabama area since 2004! Experience incredible views of the Alabama Gulf Coast while soaring up to 800ft above the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Their flights last about ten Minutes, and there's never been a better time to take your parasailing adventure. Picture Packages are a great way to document your parasail flight, and include 40-60 high quality images on an SD card for only $35.

SEAFOOD:
- Coast Restaurant & Sushi Bar is a family-friendly restaurant offering a unique fun-filled dining experience. Savor the taste of the freshest seafood from the Gulf while enjoying breathtaking views of the Alabama Gulf Coast and our white-sand beaches. We always eat at the sushi bar with the sushi chef who is known as Superman by the locals. He is very talented, always serving up the freshest fish and yummy sides.

- Sunset Corkroom - Owners Nina Martin and Connie Nickerson had a vision for a small, intimate, upscale fine dining establishment while keeping a local friendly objective. We offer unique wines from around the world, a hand crafted menu with local organic foods. A little off the beaten path, the Cork Room is an excellent way to escape the typical beach fare and step into a more sophisticated, personal atmosphere. Sunset Cork Room is a perfect place to talk over plans with an associate or meet up with friends. Great place for live music on Tuesday nights and on the weekend.

- Fisher's at Orange Beach Marina houses two restaurants under one roof, each devoted to creating mouthwatering cuisine that complement the two waterfront dining experiences: Upstairs and Dockside, both of which are recommended by Southern Living.

- Cobalt - Experience contemporary coastal cuisine at its best. Cobalt, the Restaurant, located in Orange Beach, features authentic dishes crafted by renowned chefs in three distinct kitchens. Nestled under the Perdido Bay Bridge, next to Caribe Resort, patrons can enjoy a spectacular view of the bay from every table.

- Playa - Chef Bill Briand’s menu features great local seafood, delicious grilled steaks, and tacos with homemade tortillas, truly offering something for everyone in the family. Throw in the best tropical drinks and lots of southern hospitality – served in a care-free and beautifully designed casual atmosphere with the best waterfront view in Orange Beach – and you will not want to leave. Words of wisdom, just get the pork tamale and call it a day. So damn good. -

- GTs on the Bay sits overlooking Wolf Bay on Canal Road in the heart of Orange Beach. With stunning views and bay front dining, GTs features a diverse and unique menu.

- Anchor Bar - Boat design outlet serving bar food, beer, wine & cocktails with an al fresco marina view deck. Laid back atmosphere on Bayou St John. The food is unreal - great place to watch a Saints game - locally owned by a Louisiana native. (Who Dat!!)

- The Hangout - Think of the house on your street you loved hanging out at when you were growing up. Then imagine that turned into a restaurant, only 10x better. That’s the Hangout. They pride themselves on being a place where you can come to hangout all day without every getting bored. The walls are covered in collectible vintage toys, cars, lunch boxes, and other random memorabilia that you could spend hours looking at.

- Lulu’s is another one of those places where the food is good but the experience is even better. It’s owned by the sister of Jimmy Buffet, so you know it’s going to be a great place to relax and enjoy a meal with your family and friends.

- Original Oyster House - They’re not just your traditional oysters – they do fresh oysters, cooked oysters, oysters slathered in garlic butter and parmesan cheese, and more. My husband said these might have been the best oysters he’s ever had. If you don’t like oysters, they have a huge salad bar and other dishes like popcorn shrimp, fried pickles, and po’ boys that will keep everyone happy.

- Ginny Lane is located right on the Orange Beach wharf and the perfect place for a bite to eat after you get done with any of these awesome things to do in Gulf Shores! I recommend going at night so you can see the trees light up and all the boats docked in the marina.

BREAKFAST
- Brick and Spoon was awarded one of the top 10 best breakfasts in the US by Travel and Leisure magazine for good reason. The stuffed French Toast sliders were something out of breakfast dreams, the beignets were perfectly sweet and crisp, and the shrimp and grits were what shrimp and grits should always be. And if it’s your thing, they have a build your own Bloody Mary menu where you literally can add pretty much anything you want to your creation.

- Foam Coffee Shop - delicious lattes and avocado toast

- Lickin Good Donuts - skip the donuts and instead dive straight into either the apple fritters or the savory options stuffed with sausage. A definite must.

SPA:
- Spa at Beach Club - Our full-service resort spa offers massage therapy, skin care, body treatments, and salon services all designed to relax the body and mind, soothing whirlpool, and a full service salon. I personally love this place. Jennifer does my manicures and pedicures. K.C. does our massages - he is amazing. It is a little off the beaten path, but totally worth it.

-Mosaic Med Spa @ The McCollough Institute - amazing facials and treatments. The entire staff is lovely as is the space. Please tell them Barrett referred you guys.

ACTIVITES:
- Explore the Fort - “Damn the Torpedoes! Go Ahead!” (usually paraphrased as "Damn the Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead") is the famous line shouted by Admiral David Farragut in a brave moment on his way to Fort Morgan. The Fort is one of the two forts that protected Mobile during the Battle of Mobile Bay. The Fort dates from 1812. A museum offers displays of Civil War artifacts and tours reveal the history of the fort from the War of 1812 until its final closure by the Army in 1946. On the beach, visitors will find cannons gazing out to sea. After touring the fort, there are opportunities to stroll the white beaches, swim, fish or crab, shell hunt, and sunbathe. This spot is a favorite with birdwatchers, who have been known to make rare sightings of migratory birds.

- Explore Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge - Recreate among endangered species and migratory birds. Over 4,000 acres of beach dunes, scrub dunes, fresh water marsh, salt water marsh, and Maritime forest make up the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge just west of Gulf Shores. This coastal Refuge is part of the Central Gulf Ecosystem Unit and provides refuge for the endangered loggerhead sea turtle, the endangered American alligator, and the rare gopher tortoise. Part of the migration route of the monarch butterfly, the Refuge is also known for its more than 120 species of birds - making it a paradise for bird watchers. Along with birding, the refuge offers opportunities for hiking, swimming, photography, collecting sea shells, and boating. Fishermen enjoy both fresh and saltwater fishing.

- Explore the Bay - Ride the auto ferry to Dauphin Island for a tour of the SeaLab and historic Fort Gaines. Birdwatching and sunbathing are two of the favorite activities on this island paradise. The Audubon Bird Sanctuary, at the east end of the island, extends over 164-acres of maritime forest, marshes, and dunes. A campground and hiking trail are part of the Sanctuary, giving visitors opportunities to spend time observing the neotropical migrant birds and native wildflowers. In the spring, the park is visited by bird lovers anxious to view the annual bird migration.

- Gulf State Park's two miles of beaches greet you with plenty of white sun-kissed sand, surging surf, seagulls and sea shells, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. Inside Gulf State Park there is a championship golf course, new beach pavilion, rental cottages, tennis courts, camp sites, 27 miles of paved/enhance trails and a fishing pier that is 20-feet wide and extends 1,512 feet into the Gulf. This and much more make Gulf State Park the perfect in-state vacation or out-of-state adventure. - Hummingbird Zipline - Experience the best five-star attraction in Orange Beach. The course includes 6,000 feet of zip line (divided into 8 lines) and views as high as 115 feet. Join us today!

You will be fitted with an intercom flight headset for clear communication and protective helmet with windscreen. You will have more time to learn how to maneuver the aircraft with confidence, or if you prefer our instructor can do all the flying while you have more time to enjoy the stunning coastal scenery. Prices vary based on time of flight.

With an extensive list of beauty and health, children's, clothing, jewelry and specialty stores, Gulf Shores shopping is at its best at The Wharf has everything but I really only go to Shades for sunglasses and hats, but more importantly their furry friends to welcome you to the store. I also hit up The Gulf Coast House of Jerky.

- Sanroc Cay is a small, waterfront shopping center with several mouth-watering restaurants, fun boutiques, and a charming marina. If your visit to Gulf Shores coincides with a fishing tournament, Sanroc Cay is a great spot to watch tournament fisherman bring in their catch.
