Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
Cell phone reception and WIFI connection are available but can be variable due to weather conditions. Please be advised that coverage may be interrupted during your stay due to poor weather conditions.

Due to the high winds and dense trees power outages can occur frequently, but they are usually resolved within minutes or within the hour. Power outages will impact the lights, use of appliances and bathroom as water will not work as the cottage draws water from a well with use of a submersible pump. It is always advised to bring some personal water just in case this occurs during your stay.

The cottage septic system is very sensitive and requires a special care by guests. The peat moss system offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional systems. The basic rule is do not put anything down the toilet other then natural waste and toilet paper.
Please be conservative of the toilet paper used, 1 ply will be provided.

There will be a jar under the kitchen sink for disposing of waste cooking oils and marinates.

Bruce Peninsula has strict garbage disposal limits, please be mindful of your garbage production. You will need to dispose of it at nearby waste facility at the end of your stay or take it with you. If all garbage is not removed upon checkout a $50 disposal fee will be imposed. Please ensure that items are recycled when and where possible.

As you are in cottage country, please be aware that there will be various bugs and animals to contend with during your stay. Ensure the cottage screen doors remain shut when not in use so no critters enter the cottage.

Miller Lake, Ontario, Canada

Dyers Bay is a sleepy cottage country village located on Georgian Bay Shore of the Bruce Peninsula. There are no commercial establishments in the area with the exception of Applewood Inn & Restaurant. There are no gas stations or foods stores. Filling up with fuel in Ferndale on the way up the peninsula would be wise!

To the north of Dyers Bay is Tobermory and to the south is Lions Head, both villages have shopping and restaurants.

The cottage is close to Bruce Peninsula National Park, of which covers 155km of limestone cliffs, caves, underground streams and ancient forests that host some of the oldest trees in Canada.
Old shipwrecks can be viewed at Parks Canada in the Fathom Five National Marine Park offshore from Tobermory.
The unique geological formations of Flower Pot Island and costal cliffs are features that attract visitors from all over the world.
You are surrounded by some of the most spectacular hiking trails, from Dyers Bay to Devils Monument is an example of the Bruce Trail at it's best!
Access to the Bruce trail is just a six minute walk from the cottage, offering hikers foot paths and trails to enjoy. The Bruce Peninsula National Park, the Grotto and Indian Head are only a short drive away as well.

Cottagers can swim from the flat rocks alongside Dyers Bay Road, off the government docks (located at bottom of hill at the entrance of dyers bay), or at sandy beach or Dorcas bay beach. There is also a sandy beach at Dunks Bay just east of Tobermory.
