Wat je gaat doen
Guests will arrive at our house and we'll start our time together with a tour and explanation of the various permaculture activities we do here: mushroom cultivation, fruit trees, two large kitchen gardens, maple syrup production, chicken raising, biodynamic composting, sea salt production, and wine and mead making. (Please note that permaculture is a season- and weather-dependent activity, so all of the above will be in various stages of beginning, fruition, harvesting, or preparing for, depending on same. However we will do our very best to explain all processes to you, so that you may in turn feel confident at trying your hand at whatever strikes your fancy.) We'll round out the visit with some wine and/or mead sampling, around a campfire if the weather permits. During your visit, I'll share my knowledge of local nature and history with you, as well as discuss in-depth what permaculture activities we've tried, what has failed and what has worked. We are always tinkering and trying to maximize the use we get out of our 0.17 acres - it's really pretty amazing what can be done on a small plot of land! We love it here and hope to teach, share, inspire, and learn from our guests. There's so much to learn about and explore in this area, it's a wonderful part of Massachusetts!
I have lived on the beautiful Massachusetts coastline for over 20 years. Much of that time I have spent exploring the coast by kayak and on foot. Working hours were spent teaching science and then elementary school! I have always sought to combine my love for nature with an intense interest in producing my own food, and, now retired, would like to share that knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Here, on our 0.17 acre urban homestead, we make mead, wine, maple syrup, and sea salt; tend very productive gardens, mushroom logs, and fruit trees; and raise chickens for eggs and meat. Urban permaculture at its finest, and we are happy to share our journey - both successes and failures - so that you can be inspired and maybe even start something of your own! PLEASE CHECK WITH ME ABOUT DATE AVAILABILITY BEFORE BOOKING! Thanks!!
