Wat je gaat doen
The DO (Dundee Orangery) Workshop is about you learning through doing to create your own unique piece of silver jewellery. You will be expertly guided in using a range of professional jewellery tools and techniques. You will learn how to mark out your design and measure your piece with accuracy. You will explore different methods to cut metal with a jewellers saw and a disc cutter. Get confident with using a jewellers torch to make the metal malleable for forming into sculptural 3D forms and to allow you to texture metal with printing techniques and a range of mark making hammer and punches. Test pieces in copper will allow you to explore a range of techniquess before committing to your final design in silver. We will use a range of materials to explore texture and these may include dried plants grown in the orangery. Learn the art of silver soldering to attach your findings. Learn essential finishing skills for your design with files, wet and dry papers and explore different polish finishes. All equipment and metal are included in the experience and you will leave with a great sense of satisfaction at having created your own ready to wear bespoke jewellery heirloom.
Prior to setting up the Dundee Orangery Studio workshop, I was the lead design tutor at City and Guilds London Art College and Jewellery Tutor at Morley College. I qualified as a FENTO Endorsed Teacher of Art and Design in 2004 and have been a practising jewellery designer for 20 years. Sharing my love of making with others and seeing their excitement as they create was the motivation for setting up DO workshop. From complete beginner to honing the skills to craft a unique pair of textured earrings or pendant with the possibility of a plant print you will be expertly guided through a series of fun processes in a professional workshop. The power of making is given a holistic setting in this inspiring Orangery where you will learn ancient traditions in silver and can discover how you can apply your own contemporary personal twist.

Waar je zult zijn
Our period property was previously owned by a textile artist who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone in 1947. Occupied by a keen Botanist & Designer the building inherited mature plants-a stunning camellia, borders of agapanthus, an Australian bottle brush plant are just some of the plants that thrive in the studio
