Wat je gaat doen
We will meet each other at the front gates of the beautiful University College Cork. From there our morning begins with a walk along the River Lee, identifying the plants that live there and talking about their ecological roles as well as their medicinal and nutritive value (and also simply enjoying how beautiful they are, of course!). This walk will take 45 mins - 1 hour. The river walk leads us to our lovely apothecary 'Mud' on historical Shandon St. where we will brew up fresh herbal teas and beautiful coffees to enjoy with some homemade energy balls and other light snacks. We will spend the rest of the morning and afternoon making herbal medicines - herbal vinegars (acetas), salves, balms...the medicines made on the day will always be different, depending on what plants are in season and what is most valuable to make for our participants. For example - when the midge season is here, we might make an insect repellent balm that doubles as a soothing rub for bites. Each participant will take home their own bottles and tins of medicine. We will supply everything needed, so all you need to do is turn up!
Hello visitors to Cork City! My name is Tiarnan, Cork City local and Community Herbalist. I've been working with plants for many years and during this time I completed a QQI course in permaculture & sustainable horticulture, as well as completing a two year apprenticeship in herbal medicine at the Plant Medicine School in Coachford. I am an international tour guide and have hosted groups around Ireland and the UK. I am also working with Deep Route Gardening (the city center's only dedicated garden shop), as well as Mud - our beautiful apothecary where we will visit during this experience.

Weather in Ireland is infamously unpredictable so please do check before and dress accordingly. If the weather is not good, we will spend less time on the plant walk and more on medicine making.
