Wat je gaat doen

We'll step outside from the touristic area to climb the highest hill in Rome and get one of the best views of Rome at 140 meters height. The default route are 12km, we'll skip all the main touristic monuments and visit places one actually wouldn't go when coming to Rome for the first time. From Piazza Venezia, our meeting point, it will take us about an hour to reach the top of Monte Mario hill from where we are going to see the sunrise approximately at 7:30am during the month of October. After crossing the Tiber river on Ponte Milvio bridge we'll enter in the Stadio dei Marmi to run a lap on the athletics track. At the 8th km we get at the bottom of the hill, the trail to the top has an uneven terrain made out of rocks and that's what makes it more challenging. We can rest at half way or run no-stop until the top and try to get there in less than 59 minutes. But there are no rules and everyone can join. Where there's a will there's a way! At the top of Monte Mario hill we'll have an sport drink bottle and wait for or take a look at the sunrise. After we come down we'll go to a bakery, it's a tiny place, everything is really tasty and you could buy a salty or sweet bite. We'll find one table to hold the plates and there won't be any chairs to sit. Only standing. This is the default route, we can run back to the starting point or get the metro at the Ottaviano station.

I started meeting runners on Airbnb in January 2019 with 3 ideas in mind. - keep me motivated to run early in the morning - keep a low price (probably the lowest) to share the joy of running - bring runners outside from the touristic area to one of the best viewpoint of Rome. My first half marathon was in Milan (November 2017), and I have done two marathons, one in Rome (April 2017) and the other one in Venice (October 2018). My 3rd marathon is going to be in Athens (November 2019) take a look at the races I've done @feliperuns.

Meer tips

It might be a difficult run to some people, It's not about the pace, we'll run all together. It's about determination to run until the top of the hill. If you haven't run a half marathon join and push your limits!! Everyone can do this!! It just feels good!! and the climb is always worth the view.
