Wat je gaat doen

We meet in Shinsekai area, an old neighborhoods of Osaka, walk around the area then head toward the Minami area, Osaka's southern city center, including world-famous "Dotonbori". Osaka is well known as the food capital of Japan, or kitchen of Japan, and you will see why once you get there. There are so many restaurants all over the city, and all kinds! I'll show you not only the variety of foods Osaka can offer but also the history of the area, Japanese tradition and everyday life of local people.
You'd be better off if you can take my walking tour at your earliest convenience once you arrive Osaka, since I'll talk a lot about what you can do here as well as restaurant recommendations. This will be an excellent activity for you to familiarize yourself to this amazing city, and also Japan over all. I'll try my best to let you have a good time while you're in my beloved city!!

If you'd like to add Osaka Castle to this walking tour, please let me know. I can definitely do it for you with additional fee.

Hi there! I'm Masa and I am a nationally licensed tour guide. I just moved back to Japan, where I was born and grew up, after living in USA for 25 years. I'll show you what Osaka has to offer by walking around Shinsekai and Minami area, southern part of Osaka City, where you can find REAL Osaka. As a Japanese but having lived overseas over the last two decades, I am certain I can explain things to you from a unique point of view and also in an insightful manner. I will show you the city from a local's perspective in a way you'd never find on your own.

Me and my sis had massive fun. What a comprehensive and insightful tour this was! We wished it went on for longer but in the 2hours time, we covered a lot of ground. Wonderful places and we discovered some hidden alleys and backlanes thanks to Mr Masaaki! Thank you Masa!

He quickly personalised the tour to suit our preferences and he came prepared with interesting historical context and everyday tips. We would recommend this tour to focus any visitor to Osaka. Informative and interesting walking tour. Really enjoyed this walk with Masaaki, he is a very good guide. I hope to return the next day to some of the food stores to sample the food again. It’s a must when visiting Osaka.

Absolutely worth every penny and minute you spend with Masaaki. We learned so much about Osaka, Masaaki's life and experience with both the Japanese and American cultures, his dog!, customs/culture of the local area vs the rest of Japan, food spots, even about toilets! We were also lucky to catch the annual Ebisu festival, which Masaaki introduced to us, told us about the traditions behind it, and walked us through the busy area to watch all the commotion. That was unique. Masaaki's binder of visuals were also immensely helpful for us to understand everything he was explaining. We covered a LOT of ground and saw many of the highlights of Osaka, that afterwards we felt like we knew our way around and what foods to try and what things there are to do. Logistics were easy, Masaaki sent several clear instructions and pictures to help us find the meeting location, and was there early to meet us. Highly recommend the tour if you want to get a crash course on Osaka, and make a new friend (or many) in the process! With the amount of detail and dedication from Masaaki for this tour, I wish Masaaki could provide tours for us in every city in Japan!

Our walking tour with Masaaki was just wonderful!!! We learned so much about Japanese culture, history etc and even more specifically about Osaka. He was extremely accommodating to us and our toddler and we felt as though we had a truly unique and personal experience we wouldn’t have had otherwise. Very grateful and highly recommend!
