Wat je gaat doen

This is a private farm and garden tour for up to 10 guests. We charge 50 dollars per person, or 200 dollars for 4-10 guests. We are an 8 acre farm surrounded by the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. As a physician, I believe experiences with animals, gardens and nature have a strongly positive impact on our health.

Individualized farm tours with myself and my teenage children as your guides. We will head to the barn where we will be petting cats, holding kittens (when available), feeding ducks and chickens, feeding our two pigs (Frances and Rumple Pig Skin), petting and feeding the mini horse ( Buttercup) and llama (Betty). Our Jersey Cows (Beezy & Jello) may be available as well. In addition to visiting and feeding animals, you can learn about them and what they need and like. Collect eggs, feed animals, brush them and learn about caring for them.
Gardens abound around the farm.
See the extensive cottage garden with a variety of annuals and perennials. Visit the glass stone greenhouse with its wonderful smell of rosemary, tour the raised beds and orchard that are part of the farm. Stroll through the potager kitchen garden. Joy has created a paradise to stroll thru and enjoy. She is happy to visit, educate or allow you to quietly enjoy.
After the tour join us in the garden or in the farmhouse kitchen for lemonade and a handmade treat.

I’m a local family medicine physician. I grew up on a large ranch in the area and I have had my homestead in Custer for 20 years. I want to share my joy and love for this area along with my love of agriculture, farming and gardening. I want to show others how to be well by being connected to nature. Many people never have the chance to just slowly walk through lovely gardens and literally smell the flowers. I have met many youth and adults very interested in seeing, touching and feeding animals but they have not had the opportunity to do so. I want to offer up a relaxing and calm experience for people. The farm is a beautiful, visually pleasing experience. We have raised all our animals and care for them each day. You will have time to ask questions about their care and their individual stories.

Waar je naartoe gaat

I have worked on creating my homestead for 20 years. It includes a log home with a rustic French country kitchen. Guests are invited into the kitchen and on the porch. The vast gardens are beautiful and inviting. The barn is freshly painted and decorated with barn quilts. I have a potager garden that is 40 by 40 feet and a new orchard with 14 raised beds. The greenhouse is a beautiful structure with rosemary and other flowers and herbs. Relax!!
