Wat je gaat doen
Five hundred years of well-preserved history have made the Cuban capital a must-visit city to people willing to enhance their knowledge about the world. This experience will allow you to approach its historic center from three different perspectives. First, a historical-cultural perspective will help you understand the origins and evolution of Havana, the main characteristics of its inhabitants, and the social structure of Cuban society. Secondly, an architectural approach will permit you to identify the particular mixture of different styles, including the simplicity of Mudejar art, the peculiarity of Cuban baroque, the majesty of Neoclassicism, and the impressive ornamentation of Art Nouveau. The third perspective is focused on the restoration process of the territory, and the social labor carried out by the Historian Office of Havana to maintain the concept of a “living city.” This experience is the perfect choice for those who have never visited the historic center of Havana, or for those wanting to deepen their understanding of this marvelous city.
We are a team of Cuban friends with a deep passion about Cuban history, culture, and heritage. We have created @HavanaTraces for sharing with the world the wonders of our capital city. Alfonso was a History teacher at High School. He has a B.S. in Tourism and currently works as a professor at the University of Havana. Neivy has a B.A. in Foreign Languages and works as a professor of Linguistics and Translation studies at the University of Havana. Both, Alfonso and Neivy have been trained by the Office of the Historian of Havana as heritage tour guides of the Old City. Marena, Lisbeth and Cecilia have been trained by Alfonso and Neivy, which increases the team to so far five foreign languages professionals whose expertise in Havana's heritage and love for the Cuban culture will make you discover the historical traces of our city.
